Input Chinese on Nokia 770 with SCIM

I’ve ported SCIM to N770. It’s a just work version, many things need to be improved.

Click the icon below to install. UPDATE(2007-04-06):
install scim-pinyin
Strong recommend to install firefly font (ttf-arphic-newsung)
install ttf-arphic-newsung

Once installed, the default VKB will be replaced by matchbox-keyboard. Hit Ctrl+space to invoke SCIM.

Ideas got from Maemo CJK Support: Replace VKB with Matchbox-keyboard and Integrate SCIM with matchbox-keyboard using X ClientMessage.

After two nights debugging, it can basiclly worked in Maemo SDK. Here is the screencast, I uploaded it to youtube.

Next to do:

  • Make deb packages for Nokia 770
  • Embed the scim panel in the keyboard window

A modified set of the default IT OS 2006 Nokia themes with 14pt fonts, also supporting Chinese characters in the title bar.

今天搜索到了这个项目( maemocjk.garage.maemo.org/get_involved.html )，目前该项目支持在N800上输入中、韩、日字符。

770上应该也可以按此思路(matchbox-keyboard + gcin/fcitx/scim)实现中文输入，项目论坛里已经有一个帖子讨论了
